Why Med Tek?

Med Tek is built around one idea most nutrient brands skip over: coco coir isn't inert. Coir's exchange sites bind a large share of the calcium and magnesium you feed — sometimes for weeks — so a nutrient designed for rockwool or clay leaves coir growers short. Med Tek's base formulas are developed specifically for coir, loaded with extra calcium and magnesium to offset that binding, and refined through years of lab tissue analysis and side-by-side trials.

Separate veg and bloom base nutrients

Unlike single-formula ranges that make you bolt on a nitrogen additive for veg, Med Tek splits the base into two two-part A&B nutrients. Coir Vega runs a high N-to-K ratio (NPK 6-2-4) to push vigorous leaf and shoot growth through a long Australian veg. Coir Flores shifts to a bloom ratio (NPK 5-3-8) to drive flower and yield. Both are highly concentrated, so the dilution rate to hit a given EC is lower than most brands — better value per litre.

Additives that target the coir problem

The support range is chosen, not padded. Cal Mag Micro (with chelated Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu) corrects deficiencies during peak demand. Super Silica delivers high plant-available silicon for stronger cell walls and stress, pest and mildew resistance. Rhizo Plus is a kelp-based root stimulant that barely touches the solution's nutrient profile. Connoisseur Blooms and PK Elicit sharpen the flowering finish, and Resin Finish targets late-stage quality.

Living root protection

Synergy Coir rounds it out with four Trichoderma species (T. harzianum, viride, koningii and reesei) selected because coir is one of the best substrates for them to colonise. They out-compete root pathogens and prime the plant's own defences — 275g treats 2750L.

How to build a Med Tek coir feed

  1. Base, matched to stage: Coir Vega A&B through veg, switch to Coir Flores A&B for bloom.
  2. Cover cal-mag early: add Cal Mag Micro during establishment and any high-demand stretch, especially in soft water.
  3. Silica throughout: Super Silica at 0.25ml/L across grow and bloom for structural strength and resistance.
  4. Roots and defence: Rhizo Plus as a root stimulant; Synergy Coir to establish a protective root-zone microflora.
  5. Finish the flower: PK Elicit and Connoisseur Blooms through bloom, Resin Finish for the late run.

Coco coir isn't inert — its negatively charged exchange sites bind calcium and magnesium from your feed, sometimes for weeks, so cations meant for the plant get locked to the substrate. A nutrient built for rockwool or clay leaves coir growers short on cal-mag. Med Tek's coir base formulas carry extra calcium and magnesium to compensate, so your plants actually get what you feed.

The Coir Vega and Flores bases are already loaded with calcium and magnesium to offset coir binding, so they cover normal demand. Cal Mag Micro is there for the extra-demanding stretches — early establishment, soft water, or when you spot a deficiency — adding readily available calcium, magnesium and chelated micronutrients to correct it fast.

Very — that's a core part of the design. The base formulas hit a given EC at a lower dilution rate than most brands: Coir Vega reads about 1.53 mS/cm at 2ml/L, Coir Flores about 1.33 mS/cm at 2ml/L in distilled water. A lower dose per litre to reach target EC means each bottle goes further, so the value per litre is strong.

It's a beneficial microbe inoculant with four Trichoderma species chosen because coir is an ideal substrate for them to colonise. They compete with root pathogens for space and nutrients, break down harmful fungi, and trigger the plant's own defence response against threats like botrytis and powdery mildew. One 275g tub treats 2750L at two scoops per 100L.
