Does CO2 supplementation actually help?

It depends on how the room is run. Push extra CO2 into a tent that is constantly extracting and most of it rides out with the exhaust as fast as you add it. The passive kit here is mainly there to replace what the plants use between air changes. Real lift shows up in a sealed or lightly vented room under strong light, where CO2 becomes the limiting factor once temperature and humidity are already holding. Get those climate basics right first; after that, CO2 is the lever that is left.

Ways to add CO2

Passive bags and bottles. These are the hang-and-forget options — CO2 Aussie Breath Bags, Green Pad generators, TNB Naturals' The Enhancer and CO2 Enricha doses. They need no power and no plumbing. Hang them above the canopy because CO2 sinks, then swap them on the schedule. They are sized for tents.

Dosed CO2. Regulators and solenoids from Pro-Leaf and Harvest Master meter bottled CO2 into the room. For bigger operations the Pro-Leaf 4-burner LPG generator produces it at room scale.

Control and monitoring. The Digi-Lumen Enviro-Pro and Pro Leaf Enviro controllers hold a CO2 target and stop dosing when the lights go off. Use the Pulse Pro monitor to see what the room is actually doing before you pay for gas.

Getting it right

  1. Measure before you dose. If the room already sits near ambient with decent airflow, fix the airflow first rather than adding gas.
  2. Dose lights-on only. Plants use CO2 while they photosynthesise — controllers do this cut-off for you.
  3. Mind the exhaust. Constant extraction fights CO2 dosing; sealed-room growers cycle the two.
  4. LPG generators add heat and humidity. Allow for that extra climate load and keep to the manual's clearances.

Pair this page with controllers and monitoring and testing equipment to close the loop.

CO2 for Grow Rooms FAQ's

A tent on constant extraction dumps most injected CO2 out the fan. Passive bags mainly keep levels from falling below ambient between air changes, which is still useful in a sealed veg tent. The real jump happens in sealed rooms under high light, where CO2 is actually the factor holding the canopy back.

Ambient outdoor air is about 400ppm. The breath bags we stock are rated to take a sealed space to around 1300ppm. Growers running regulators and controllers usually sit in the 1000–1500ppm band under strong light. Going higher just wastes gas. Dose only while the lights are on, when the plants are photosynthesising.

Yes. A regulator with a solenoid (Pro-Leaf or Harvest Master) meters gas out of the bottle, and a CO2 controller opens and closes that solenoid so the room holds a target and dosing stops at lights-off. Without the controller you are guessing. A Pulse Pro monitor is the cheapest first step to see what the room actually needs.

They are made for grow rooms, but they burn LPG, so they also add heat and water vapour that your climate kit has to take on. Keep to the manual's mounting clearances, run one only where ventilation is managed, and pair it with a CO2 controller and sensor so it never runs unsupervised or past the target.
