Xtreme Gardening FAQ's
Mykos is a mycorrhizal inoculant — beneficial fungi that colonise plant roots and form a partnership with them. The fungal network extends far beyond the root system itself, effectively increasing the surface area available for taking up water and nutrients. In exchange the plant supplies the fungus with sugars. It is a biological relationship, not a fertiliser.
The same organism in two formats. Granular is applied dry and needs direct contact with roots, so it suits transplanting and planting holes. WP is a wettable powder that dissolves for application through irrigation or as a drench, which is how you reach the root zone of a plant that is already established. Choose by timing rather than preference.
At transplant and during propagation, when root development is the priority. Azos supplies nitrogen-fixing bacteria that convert atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-available form, and it is commonly used as a rooting aid on cuttings as well. Sizes run from 56g up to 3.7kg for commercial application.
Yes — inoculants complement a feed schedule rather than replacing it. The main caution is fungicides and strong sanitisers, which do not distinguish between pathogens and the beneficial fungi you have just introduced. If you run hydrogen peroxide or a broad-spectrum fungicide through your system, expect to be reapplying inoculant.
It is a foliar booster supplying calcium through the leaf rather than the root zone, sold in 85g and 180g. That matters when a plant shows calcium deficiency despite adequate calcium in the reservoir — high humidity and low transpiration can limit uptake regardless of what is available at the roots. It is the only foliar product in this range.
