Smell Proof Bags FAQ's
They work, but only inside their limits, and the mechanism is the reason. A carbon-lined bag scrubs the air that moves through it, so odour is taken up rather than blocked. A sealed barrier bag such as Foil Fresh or Zip-Zag stops odour getting through at all. Both do the job when the bag is fully closed and the contents are dry. Overfill it, leave the zip half done, or let the carbon lining saturate, and it will leak.
Carbon-lined bags — Avert's carry range plus AC Infinity's belt bag and handbag — sandwich activated carbon between the outer shell and the liner, and that layer takes odour out of air passing through. Barrier bags are sealed film: Foil Fresh mylar and Zip-Zag dual-lock bags do not filter anything; they simply stop odour leaving. Plenty of growers nest them, with a barrier bag inside a carbon-lined one.
Size it to the job. A personal amount fits the Avert pocket bag at 14cm x 11.5cm or a 3.5g Foil Fresh bag. A day out is the waistbag or AC Infinity's belt bag. Travel is the 5.5L travel bag or the 27L lockable backpack. A whole harvest goes in the 95L duffle; the 148L XL is large enough for buckets.
Activated carbon has a finite capacity — it adsorbs odour until it is full, then performance drops. Regular use gives months of good service rather than years, and how fast it fades depends on how loaded and how damp the bag gets. Keep it dry, air it between uses, and replace the bag once the lining no longer holds a scent in.
Yes. Zip-Zag dual-lock bags are built to reseal and reuse many times, which is why a 25-pack lasts. Foil Fresh bags can be ironed shut for long-term storage, then torn along that seal and kept as a heavy-duty resealable zip-lock. Retire either one when the zipper stops clicking closed or the film picks up pinholes.
Not in a carbon-lined carry bag — it is built to move finished flower, not to hold a humidity level. Cure in glass or a purpose-built curing pouch first, then transfer. A sealed barrier bag like Zip-Zag will hold cured flower at the moisture it went in with, and a two-way humidity pack from the Drying & Curing range keeps it there.
