How a bowl trimmer works

A bowl trimmer does the same job as scissors, only many times over. The blade sits under a wire grille and spins as you wind the handle. Buds roll across the mesh; any leaf that pokes through is cut and drops into the catch tray. Flower stays above the grille, so the steel never meets it. A ten-minute session on the handle covers what used to take an hour of snipping, and there is no power point to find.

Our bowl trimmers

AC Infinity ships twist-spin bowls in 406mm and 482mm. Each has a clear dome, so you can watch the batch and stop at the finish you want, and both are rated for wet or dry product. The SeaHawk bowl hand trimmer is the plain crank if you want the mechanism without extras. Power-Trim's 480mm line is sold as a manual unit or a motorised one that turns the blade for you, which saves your shoulder on larger loads.

Choosing between bowl sizes

The 406mm bowl is enough for a plant or two each session and tucks away easily. Bowls in the 482mm class give flower more room to tumble, so bigger batches come out faster and more even. When every load is jammed to the dome, the bowl is too small — that is the point you move to a motorised machine.

These bowls are one rung of the trimming machines range. Keep trimming scissors on the bench for the last tidy-up, whatever size you run. The rest of the harvest workflow is under post-harvest equipment.

Bowl Trimmers FAQ's

Drop buds in and wind the handle. A blade under the wire grille cuts leaf that pokes through the mesh; the flowers stay on top and never touch the steel. That is hand-scissor work, just many times over. Off-cuts fall into the catch tray, and you can keep that leaf for edibles or extracts.

Yes — AC Infinity's bowl trimmers are rated for both wet and dry product. Cutting wet, straight off the plant, is quicker and cleaner in the bowl; dry trimming after hang-drying is slower and gentler on the flower. Either way, keep batches small and empty the catch tray often, because a packed bowl trims unevenly.

Pick the bowl for the amount you cut. AC Infinity's 406mm size is built around a plant or two per sitting. Step up to 482mm when you want more room for buds to roll, which evens out larger loads and finishes them sooner. Power-Trim's 480mm units belong in that same larger class. A dome that is stuffed every time means the bowl is too small.

Move up when the crank can no longer keep pace with trim day. A bowl is right for a few plants, but your arm is the motor and the work is still batch by batch. Once each harvest is measured in kilograms, a motorised trimming machine — benchtop electrics through to CenturionPro tumblers — will finish in hours what a bowl spends an afternoon on.
