Match the base to the medium

Dutchfest builds separate base nutrients for hydroponics and for coco, which is the right way round — coco binds calcium and magnesium and releases nutrients differently to inert media, so a single formulation cannot serve both well. Choosing correctly here matters more than any additive on the page.

Base nutrients

Hydro Grow A&B and Hydro Bloom A&B. The stage-split hydroponic pair, each in 1L, 5L and 20L. Grow through vegetative, Bloom through flower.

Coco A&B. The coco-specific two-part, in 1L and 5L.

Additives

Root Mass Enhancer. The root-zone product in 1L — used early, when establishment is what matters.

Bud Bomb. The flowering additive in 1L, run through the second half of the cycle.

Running it

Two-part bases go into the water separately — A first, stir, then B. Never combine the concentrates directly. Once everything including additives is in the tank, check the number with a pH and EC combo meter rather than trusting the label, since water chemistry varies enormously across Australia and every addition moves the reading.

Dutchfest FAQ's

Match it to what you are growing in. Hydro Grow and Bloom A&B suit recirculating and run-to-waste hydroponic systems on inert media. Coco A&B is formulated for coco coir, which binds calcium and magnesium and releases nutrients differently. Using the hydro formulation in coco is the most common cause of calcium shortfall partway through a cycle.

They are the vegetative and flowering halves of the same base system. Grow carries higher nitrogen for leaf and stem development; Bloom shifts the balance towards phosphorus and potassium for flower production. You switch from one to the other as the plant changes stage rather than running both together.

Early — through propagation, transplant and the first weeks of vegetative growth, when the plant is building its root system. Root products give the least return when added late, because by then the root mass is largely set. It comes in 1L, which covers a considerable number of feeds at typical dose rates.

It is the flowering additive, run through the second half of the cycle alongside the Hydro Bloom or Coco base rather than replacing part of it. As with any flowering booster, follow the label rate rather than assuming more is better — additives raise total feed strength, and pushing EC too high in flower causes more problems than it solves.

The Hydro Grow and Bloom bases come in 1L, 5L and 20L, Coco A&B in 1L and 5L, and both additives in 1L. That covers a home tent through to a commercial room on the hydro side. Buy the size you will realistically use within a season, since concentrates do not improve with age.
