Two-part or single-part, hydro or coco

The Hy-Gen bases are grouped two ways: the medium you grow in, and whether you want one bottle or two. That is four places to start, not one. Pick the substrate first — Hydro for hydroponics, Coco for coco — then decide on two-part A&B or a single bottle. The single-part options are why this range is an easy first recommendation for a new tent.

Hydro Growth and Bloom Formula A&B. A two-part hydroponic base, sold as Growth and Bloom sets in 2x1L, 5L and 20L.

Coco Growth and Bloom Formula A&B. The same two-part layout, mixed for coco — coco holds calcium and magnesium differently to inert media.

Single-part Hydro. Hydro Growth and Hydro Bloom as one bottle each, in 1L and 5L. One measure, not two.

Cornucopia. Coco-Grow and Coco-Bloom as single bottles in 1L and 5L — the least fussy coco feed in the range.

Additives

The add-on bottles sit beside the bases: silica, enzymes, humic and seaweed, plus two targeted corrections.

Budlink Silica. Cell-wall strength in 1L, 2L, 5L and 20L. Always first into the water, before any other bottle.

Omegazyme. The enzyme bottle that breaks down spent root matter, from 500mL to 20L.

Humiboosta and Sea Essentials. Humic and seaweed-derived inputs, both sold in 500mL through 20L.

Nitro-K and PK Top Up. Targeted nitrogen-potassium and flowering PK corrections, in the same size range.

Meter consumables

Hy-Gen makes the pH 4 and pH 7 buffer solutions we sell in 250mL, 1L and 5L, a 500mL probe cleaning solution, and a pH Complete Control Kit that pairs 150mL of pH Up and Down with an indicator kit — a no-batteries backup worth keeping. The full set sits in pH Buffers & Aids.

Media and starter packs

Coirlite is a 70/30 peat-perlite blend in 50L. Ultimate Blend is a 50L bag of coir-peat and coco chip. A compressed 650g CocoPeat brick at $7.45 is the cheapest way to try coco before buying a bag. Two starter packs bundle nutrient and medium: one for the two-part Coco range, one for single-part Cornucopia.

Hy-Gen Nutrients FAQ's

Two-part A&B keeps incompatible elements in separate bottles, so the feed can be more concentrated and more tightly balanced. You add each part on its own and never mix the concentrates together. Single-part is one bottle and one measure, which is harder to get wrong. First tents are usually better on single-part or Cornucopia; growers who want more control tend to stay on A&B.

Cornucopia is Hy-Gen's single-part coco line — Coco-Grow and Coco-Bloom, sold in 1L and 5L. Coco Formula A&B does the same job from two bottles; Cornucopia does it from one. A dedicated Cornucopia starter pack bundles the bottles with medium, and that is the simplest way this brand has into coco.

Yes. The Hy-Gen pH 4 and pH 7 buffers are standard calibration fluids, so they work with any pH pen or probe, any brand. Sizes are 250mL, 1L and 5L, and a 500mL probe cleaning solution sits next to them. Use a fresh pour each time and never tip used solution back into the bottle.

Silica helps cell walls, which matters most on plants carrying heavy flowers or sitting under strong light. A feed schedule still works without it. If you do run it, pour it into plain water first and stir before anything else goes in — silica is alkaline and reacts with concentrated nutrient, which is usually why a reservoir goes cloudy.
