Two-part or single-part, hydro or coco

Hy-Gen splits its base nutrients twice over: by substrate, and by how much control you want. That gives four sensible starting points rather than one, and the single-part options in particular make this an easy range to recommend to someone running their first tent.

Hydro Growth and Bloom Formula A&B. The two-part hydroponic base, in 2x1L, 5L and 20L sets.

Coco Growth and Bloom Formula A&B. The same idea formulated for coco, which binds calcium and magnesium differently to inert media.

Single-part Hydro. Hydro Growth and Hydro Bloom as single bottles in 1L and 5L — one measurement instead of two.

Cornucopia. Single-part Coco-Grow and Coco-Bloom in 1L and 5L, the simplest way to run coco.

Additives

Budlink Silica. Cell-wall strengthening in 1L, 2L, 5L and 20L. Into water first, before anything else.

Omegazyme. The enzyme product for breaking down spent root matter, 500mL to 20L.

Humiboosta and Sea Essentials. Humic and seaweed-derived inputs, both 500mL to 20L.

Nitro-K and PK Top Up. Targeted nitrogen-potassium and flowering PK corrections in the same size range.

Meter consumables

Hy-Gen makes the pH 4 and pH 7 buffer solutions we sell in 250mL, 1L and 5L, plus a 500mL probe cleaning solution and a pH Complete Control Kit that pairs 150mL of pH Up and Down with an indicator kit — a no-batteries backup worth having. The full set lives in pH Buffers & Aids.

Media and starter packs

Coirlite 70/30 peat-perlite in 50L, an Ultimate Blend coir-peat and coco chip 50L bag, and a compressed 650g CocoPeat brick at $7.45 — the cheapest way to try coco before committing to a bag. Two starter packs bundle nutrients and medium: one for the two-part Coco range and one for single-part Cornucopia.

Hy-Gen Nutrients FAQ's

Two-part A&B keeps incompatible elements separated in the bottle, allowing a more concentrated and precisely balanced feed, but you must add each part separately and never mix them undiluted. Single-part is one bottle and one measurement, which is harder to get wrong. New growers are usually better served by single-part or Cornucopia; experienced growers tend to prefer the control of A&B.

It is Hy-Gen's single-part coco range — Coco-Grow and Coco-Bloom in 1L and 5L. Where the Coco Formula A&B gives you two bottles to balance, Cornucopia does the same job from one. There is a dedicated Cornucopia starter pack that bundles it with medium, which is the simplest entry into coco growing that this brand offers.

Yes. Hy-Gen's pH 4 and pH 7 buffer solutions are standard calibration fluids and work with any pH pen or probe regardless of brand. They come in 250mL, 1L and 5L, and there is a 500mL probe cleaning solution alongside them. Use fresh buffer each time and never pour used solution back into the bottle.

Silica supports cell-wall strength, which matters most for plants carrying heavy flowers or growing under strong light. It is not essential to a working feed schedule. If you do add it, put it into plain water first and stir before adding anything else — silica is alkaline and reacts with concentrated nutrient, which is the usual cause of a cloudy reservoir.

Three options: Coirlite, a 70/30 peat-perlite blend in 50L; an Ultimate Blend of coir peat and coco chips, also 50L; and a compressed CocoPeat brick at 650g that expands when soaked. The brick is the cheap way to try coco without committing to a full bag, and it stores in almost no space.
