Why Eazy Plug

The appeal is that there is nothing to get wrong. The plug arrives at the right moisture level, the right pH and with a starter charge of nutrient already in it — so the variables that usually kill cuttings are removed before you start.

Pre-buffered and ready

Unlike loose coco, which needs buffering and pH correction, an Eazy Plug is ready as supplied. That matters most in propagation, where a small pH error does disproportionate damage to a plant with no root system to buffer it.

Tray sizes that match the job

12 cubes for a handful of cuttings, 24 for a standard round, and 77 for a full propagation tray. The Six Plug sowing set and the Mini Pyramid cover smaller batches.

Firm enough to handle

The plugs hold together well enough to move a rooted cutting without the root ball falling apart, which is the practical difference between these and a loose medium at transplant time.

Getting the best from a plug

1. Do not soak them. They arrive at the correct moisture. Waterlogging a plug is the most common way to fail with them — roots need air as much as water.
2. Do not add nutrient at first. There is already a starter charge in the plug. Feeding early adds salt a rootless cutting cannot use.
3. Keep humidity up, not the plug wet. A cutting loses water through its leaves. A dome addresses that; drowning the plug does not.
4. Transplant when roots show at the sides. Waiting too long circles the roots inside the cube and slows establishment after potting on.
5. Match the tray to the batch. A 77-cube tray part-filled dries unevenly across the tray.
