Description

Pro Gel Rooting Hormone – Professional Propagation Gel (Made in Australia)

Manufactured in Australia, Pro Gel is a premium, scientifically formulated rooting hormone gel designed for fast, reliable propagation. It is ideal for both softwood and semi-hardwood cuttings, delivering superior strike rates compared to standard cloning gels.

Pro Gel contains the powerful plant growth hormones Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) and Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA), making it stronger and more effective than most competing brands. These hormones stimulate rapid root initiation while sealing the cut stem to protect against infection and dehydration.

What truly sets Pro Gel apart is its ultra-thick, high-viscosity formula. It is one of the stickiest and most binding propagation gels ever produced, ensuring maximum contact with the cutting for faster hormone uptake. The result? Stronger roots, quicker establishment, and dramatically improved success rates.

Pro Gel doesn’t just help cuttings root — it helps them root super fast.

Best Results – Propagation Environment Guidelines

For optimal seed striking and cloning success, always ensure you have the correct tools and conditions. Even small oversights can significantly reduce strike rates, especially during colder months.

Recommended parameters:

  • Accent Seed & Clone Propagation Solution: 5–7 CF

  • Root zone temperature: 25°C

  • Humidity: 70–85%

  • pH level: 6.3

Remember: the cuttings with the healthiest root systems are the ones you’ll be proud of at harvest time.

How to Take Cuttings – Step-by-Step Guide

Selecting Cuttings

Cuttings can be taken from most areas of the mother plant, provided they are tip cuttings with stems approximately 4–6 mm in diameter. Choose cuttings with 3–4 sets of leaves plus the crown leaves.

Top shoots are ideal, but ensure the stem is firm and rigid. If the stem bends easily, it is too soft and unlikely to survive the early stages of cloning.

Prepare all propagation media before taking cuttings. Exposed cuts can quickly absorb pathogens and fungal spores, reducing success rates. Always work with clean, sterile equipment.

Step 1 – Prepare the Propagation Media

Pre-soak propagation blocks or media in lukewarm water mixed with Accent Seed ‘n’ Clone Solution at the recommended dosage. Soak for approximately 20 minutes, then drain excess solution.

Arrange the cubes in a propagation tray. Standard 50 × 50 mm cubes allow for around 20 cuttings per tray.

Step 2 – Take the Cuttings

Using a sterile single-edge razor blade, cut just below the third or fourth internode at a 45-degree angle. Remove the bottom two sets of leaves flush with the stem.

If leaves are large, trim approximately 50% of the leaf surface to reduce transpiration. Dip the cut stem into Pro Gel, coating up to 5 mm above the cut.

Step 3 – Insert Cuttings into Media

Create a hole halfway down each propagation block. Gently insert the cutting, ensuring the stem does not protrude from the bottom of the block.

Once all cuttings are placed, discard any excess solution from the tray before fitting the propagation lid.

Pro Tip:
Never dip cuttings directly into the main gel container. Pour a small amount into the lid or a separate container to prevent contamination.

Store Pro Gel in a cool, dark place. If refrigerated, allow it to return to room temperature before use.

Step 4 – Early Root Development

Place the tray on a heat pad in complete darkness for 24 hours, with lid vents closed. This allows rooting hormones to activate more efficiently.

After 24 hours, set lighting to 18 hours on / 6 hours off. Check moisture levels every 2–3 days and rehydrate blocks with the original Seed ‘n’ Clone solution if needed. Ensure blocks can drain freely at all times.

Step 5 – Hardening Off

After 7 days, begin opening the lid vents. After another 2–3 days, remove the lid entirely and expose cuttings to normal airflow.

By days 7–10, healthy roots should be visible emerging from the blocks. Healthy roots appear thick, white, and fuzzy. Weak roots are thin, yellow or brown, and lack fine hairs.

Final Propagation Tip

Root development is the priority — avoid excessive foliar feeding. If needed, apply a light spray of Accent Plant-Wax every 3–5 days. This reduces transpiration, prevents wilting, and greatly improves cloning success
