Pick low light
Spray in low light conditions, such as early morning or evening. In excessively hot conditions the stomata are generally closed, so the spray is wasted.

Apply a fine mist to both the tops and the undersides of the leaves.

Stop at a light, even mist. Drenching the plant compromises its ability to absorb the solution.

Which size should I choose, the 500mL or the 5.5L?
The 500mL trigger pack is the handy size for a few plants, a propagation tray or a small tent, and an easy way to try foliar feeding. The 5.5L pack holds 11 times as much of the same ready-to-use solution and comes with a trigger sprayer on a 1m hose, so it suits bigger grow rooms and gardens, or anyone misting a lot of plants 2 to 3 times a week.
Can plants really absorb nutrients through their leaves?
Yes. Dr H.B. Tukey proved it in the 1950s. Using radioisotopes to trace the movement of nutrients, he showed that they enter through the stomata and transcuticular pores of the leaves, then move within the plant to wherever they're needed. That's why a foliar spray is absorbed rapidly, and why it still feeds the plant when the roots aren't taking up nutrients well.
When should I use GT Foliar?
There are two good times. The first is to correct deficiencies. Even the best run hydroponic systems get them when roots are held back by overwatering, pests and diseases, pH that's too high or low, or water and air temperatures that are too hot or cold. Foliar feeding keeps nutrients going in while you find and fix the cause. The second is to give healthy plants a boost at any stage, from cuttings through to bloom.
Do I need to dilute GT Foliar or add a wetting agent?

For optimum growth, quality and health, mist your plants 2 to 3 times a week. Drenching the plant doesn't feed it more, because it compromises the plant's ability to absorb the solution.

Why feed the leaves?
Roots are a plant's primary feeding system, but leaves absorb nutrients too. Dr H.B. Tukey proved it in the 1950s, using radioisotopes to trace nutrients entering through the stomata and transcuticular pores of the leaves and moving through the plant to wherever they were needed. That makes foliar feeding useful in two ways:
- Correcting deficiencies. Even the best run hydroponic systems can develop nutrient deficiencies. Root damage from overwatering or pests and diseases, pH that is too high or too low, and water or ambient temperatures that are too high or too low all compromise the roots' ability to do their job, and these stressors aren't always obvious. Foliar feeding helps minimise losses from poor root performance while you identify and correct the problem.
- Giving your plants a boost. A plant doesn't need to have anything wrong with it to benefit from foliar feeding. GT Foliar gives it the extra boost that supports optimal growth, and it can be used all the way from the cutting stage to the bloom stage, so every critical period of growth is covered.
