Bars where the canopy is wide

The 110W Pro bar and the 1000W 10-bar use the bar format, spreading light along a length rather than out from a single point. That evens out coverage and gets light deeper into a canopy, which is why bar fixtures dominate at the larger end.

Efficacy stated on the fixture

The 720W full spectrum model is listed at 2.7 µmol/J. Efficacy — how much usable light you get per watt drawn — is the number that separates modern LEDs, and it shows up on your power bill every day the light runs.

How to compare LED fixtures

  1. Use coverage area, not wattage. Wattage tells you what it costs to run. Coverage tells you whether it lights your tent.
  2. Look at efficacy in µmol/J. Two 700W fixtures at different efficacies deliver noticeably different light for the same power draw and the same heat.
  3. Prefer bars for larger or rectangular spaces. Spreading the same power along a length reduces the hot spot under the middle and the dim corners.
  4. Budget the heat before you buy. A 1000W fixture changes your ventilation requirement, not just your electricity bill.
  5. Verify with a PAR meter after hanging. Manufacturer figures assume ideal conditions. Measure at canopy height, including the edges.

ULight FAQ's

It is efficacy — how much usable light a fixture produces for each joule of electricity it consumes. A higher figure means more light for the same power and the same heat. The ULight 720W is listed at 2.7 µmol/J. Comparing efficacy is more informative than comparing wattage, because wattage only tells you what the fixture costs to run.

Bars spread the same power along a length, which gives more even coverage and better penetration into a canopy, and they suit rectangular footprints. Panels concentrate light through one surface and suit smaller square spaces with a single hanging point. The 110W Pro and the 1000W 10-bar are the bar options here.

Check the coverage area on each product page and match it to your footprint rather than picking on wattage. The ECO 320W is positioned as the entry fixture for a standard single-light tent. Once it is hung, take PAR readings across the canopy including the corners — that is the only measurement that reflects your actual tent.

Almost certainly. Practically all the power a light draws ends up as heat in the room. Stepping from a 320W to a 1000W fixture roughly triples that load, so the extraction fan and filter that coped before will not cope after. Plan the ventilation alongside the light rather than afterwards.
