Sea-Hawk Acoustic Ducting FAQ's
Match the ducting to your fan outlet and carbon filter spigot — most home setups run 100mm, 125mm or 150mm, with bigger rooms on 200mm and up. Sea-Hawk's rockwool line covers 125mm to 315mm and the polyester line 100mm to 355mm. Avoid stepping down a size to save money; the restriction adds noise and costs airflow.
Not meaningfully when it's sized and fitted right. The polyester line pairs its perforated, sound-absorbing inner core with an airtight outer layer to keep airflow efficient, and both lines rely on you sealing the inner and outer layers to the fan with duct tape so air can't bypass the duct. Keep runs short and bends gentle for best results.
Yes — both lines come as 5m boxed lengths made to be trimmed. Measure the full run including bends, then cut through the inner and outer layers with a sharp knife for a clean edge. Cut slightly long rather than short; a taut, stretched duct transmits more vibration than one with a little slack.
It's safe installed, but the natural-fibre insulation can irritate skin while you're cutting and fitting it — wear gloves and old clothes, as the product instructions recommend. If you'd rather skip that step, the polyester Dacron line is itch-free to handle and installs the same way, in 100mm to 355mm sizes.
