AquaMax Eco Classic is designed for continuous duty feeding a filter or a watercourse, and runs from 2500 to 17500. Aquarius Universal Premium and Premium ECO are aimed at fountains and water features. If the pump will run all day driving filtration or a waterfall, AquaMax is the range built for it; using a fountain pump for that job shortens its life.
A common starting point is turning the whole pond volume over about once an hour, then checking the pump output at your real head height rather than its maximum. A waterfall 1.5m above the surface costs significant flow. If the pump also feeds a pressure filter, allow for that restriction on top before choosing a size.
BioSmart 18000 is a flow-through biological filter that sits above water level. Biopress sets in 4000, 6000 and 10000 pair a pump with a pressurised filter that can be buried or hidden below water level. No — the Aquarius Solar 700 and 1500 run from a solar panel, which is what makes them useful for a water feature in a part of the garden with no power run. Output follows the sun, so flow varies through the day and stops in heavy cloud. They suit ornamental features rather than filtration, which needs to run continuously.
HeatUp heaters run 50W, 100W, 150W, 200W, 300W and 400W. A common starting point is roughly 1W per litre for a body of water in a sheltered position, more where it is exposed or the ambient temperature drops sharply overnight. Sizing slightly up is safer than under — an undersized heater runs constantly and still loses ground on a cold night.
