Why Hortitek

Three formats, three jobs. The mistake most people make is buying the wrong format rather than the wrong wattage — a bar and a board of the same power light a space very differently.

Growsaber bars for narrow spaces

At 600mm and 900mm long and 20W and 30W, these are supplementary and propagation lights. They fit a shelf, a propagation station or the dark side of a canopy where a full fixture will not go.

GrowBoard panels for a single tent

The Gen 2 GrowBoard at 220W and the GrowBoard at 440W are single-panel fixtures — one point of hanging, one driver, even coverage over a square footprint.

Six Bar fixtures for canopy penetration

The Six Bar 620W and Eco Six Bar 720W spread the same power across six bars instead of one panel. That reduces hot spots directly under the fixture and gets light deeper into a canopy, which is why bar-style fixtures dominate at the larger end.

Our Hortitek range

Bars: Growsaber 20W at 600mm and Growsaber 30W at 900mm.

Panels: Gen 2 Growboard 220W and GrowBoard Full Spectrum 440W.

Six bar fixtures: Six Bar 620W and Eco Six Bar 720W.

UFO: UFO LED 100W and UFO LED 300W.

Choosing a format

  1. Match the format to the footprint. A UFO or panel lights a square. Bars light a rectangle evenly and suit longer tents.
  2. Bars beat panels for even canopy light. Spreading the same wattage across six bars reduces the bright spot under the middle and the dim corners.
  3. Do not buy on wattage alone. Coverage area is the number that matters. A 440W panel over a footprint meant for 620W leaves weak edges.
  4. Plan for heat. Every watt of light becomes heat in the room. A 720W fixture changes your ventilation requirement, not just your power bill.
  5. Use the small bars for what they are good at. Growsabers are supplementary and propagation lights, not a replacement for a canopy fixture.

Hortitek FAQ's

Panels put all the light through one surface, which suits a square footprint and a single hanging point. Bar fixtures spread the same wattage across six separate bars, which evens out the light across the canopy and reduces the hot spot directly underneath. For a larger or rectangular footprint, bars generally give a more even result.

They are slim supplementary fixtures — 20W at 600mm and 30W at 900mm. They suit propagation shelves, seedling racks, a mother plant, or adding light to the side of a canopy a main fixture does not reach. They are not intended to light a full flowering canopy on their own; that is what the GrowBoard and Six Bar fixtures are for.

Use the coverage area on the individual product page rather than working from wattage, then verify with a PAR meter once it is hung. Manufacturer coverage figures assume an ideal hanging height and reflective walls; your tent, your height and your canopy shape all change the result, especially at the edges.

Yes. Essentially all the power a fixture draws ends up as heat in the room, whether it leaves as light or directly as warmth. Stepping from a 220W panel to a 720W six-bar changes what your extraction has to handle, so plan the fan and filter alongside the light rather than after it.
