Why Homebox

Homebox sits at the premium end of tents, and the reason is construction rather than features: the frame, the fabric weight and the way the corners are finished are what separate a tent that lasts five runs from one that lasts fifteen.

The naming tells you the size

Q is square, R is rectangular, and the number is the footprint in centimetres. A Q120 is 1.2x1.2m. A Q60+ is 0.6x0.6m. Once you know that, the range navigates itself.

What the plus means

The + models are the taller version of the same footprint. Q100 and Q100+ share a floor area; the + gives you more headroom, which is usually the constraint rather than floor space.

A size for every stage

Q60+ for a single plant or a mother, Q80+ as a compact tent, Q100 and Q100+ in the middle, and Q120 and Q120+ as the standard single-light footprint. The Vista Medium sits alongside them as a different format.

Ports decide your layout

Before choosing a size, look at where the ducting ports, cable ports and intakes sit on the tent you are considering. Those positions decide where the fan and filter can hang, which side the controller lives on and whether the ducting run has to cross the tent. It is the detail people most often discover after assembly, when the options have already closed.

Choosing a Homebox

  1. Read the number as centimetres. Q120 is 1.2x1.2m. That is the footprint, before you allow access around it.
  2. Take the + if headroom is tight. Height runs out before floor space does, once a light, hangers and a pot are accounted for.
  3. Match the tent to the light you already own. A fixture rated for 1.0x1.0m in a Q120 leaves dim corners.
  4. Check ceiling clearance for assembly. The frame goes together upright, so you need more room height than the finished tent.
  5. Plan the port positions. Where the ducting, cables and intakes come out decides where the fan, filter and controller can physically sit.

Homebox FAQ's

Q means a square footprint and R means rectangular; the number is the footprint in centimetres. So a Q120 is 1.2x1.2m and a Q60+ is 0.6x0.6m. The plus suffix indicates the taller version of the same floor area. Once you know the convention the whole range is self-explanatory, which is more than can be said for most tent naming.

The footprint is identical at 1.0x1.0m; the + is taller. Height is usually the binding constraint in a tent rather than floor area, because a light fixture, its hangers, the clearance above the canopy and the pot all consume vertical space before the plant gets any. If you have the ceiling for it, the + is generally the better buy.

The Q120 and Q120+ at 1.2x1.2m are the standard single-light footprint and match the coverage of most mid-range fixtures. Q100 and Q100+ suit a smaller light or a tighter room. Q60+ and Q80+ are for a single plant, a mother or propagation rather than a full flowering canopy.

Yes. The frame is assembled standing up, so you need clearance above the finished height to fit the top bars, plus a bit more to reach hangers and adjust the light afterwards. Measure your actual ceiling before ordering, particularly for the + models where the tent is already using most of a standard room height.
