Bloom Works FAQ's
The 457mm tilt trimmer sits at an angle so material moves through the cutting area under gravity, which suits smaller batches fed by hand. The 483mm auto leaf trimmer is the larger machine for higher throughput. Both are bowl-scale units — well past hand trimming, well short of commercial equipment.
They are collapsible water storage tanks designed for nutrient solution and water. Check the specific product page for the material specification before storing anything other than water or nutrient in them. The practical advantage over a rigid tank is that they fold flat when empty, which matters in a room that changes layout between runs.
Air has to reach every layer, so hang it somewhere with circulation rather than in a still corner, and do not overload the layers. Spread material in a single layer per shelf. Rotating the contents between layers partway through is worth the effort — the top and bottom shelves rarely dry at the same rate as the middle.
Mounted above canopy height, moving air across the tops of the plants rather than straight into them. That strengthens stems, breaks up humid pockets around leaves and reduces the microclimate where mould starts. A fan aimed directly at a plant at close range causes windburn on the leaves facing it.
They make a real difference. A clean, sharp blade cuts rather than crushes the stem, which speeds rooting, and a sterile one avoids carrying disease from plant to plant. Change the blade between mother plants rather than working through a whole batch on one — that is the point at which contamination spreads.
