Why Across International

Ai equipment is built to laboratory specification rather than hobby specification, and it is sold as a system: the rotary evaporator, the chiller that condenses for it and the vacuum pump that pulls for it are designed to be matched.

Matched vacuum, heat and cooling

A rotary evaporator is only as good as the vacuum behind it and the cooling in front of it. The range covers both sides — EasyVac 7 and 9 CFM pumps with oil mist filters, the Welch 1400 DuoSeal belt-drive dual-stage pump, the ULVAC DTC-41 chemical-duty diaphragm pump, and recirculating chillers rated to -20°C and -30°C.

Chemical-duty options

Solvent vapour destroys ordinary oil-sealed pumps. The ULVAC DTC-41 is a dual-stage chemical-duty diaphragm pump for exactly that reason, and the T1 glass vacuum cold trap and dry-ice condensers exist to keep vapour out of whatever is downstream.

Controlled heating

The DigiM 2L heating mantle is PID controlled to 300°C at up to 1500 RPM, and the vacuum ovens use 5-sided heating with stainless tubing and valves in 25L and 53L, both 220V.

Rotary evaporators: the 0.5g/2L SolventVap and the 2L and 5L systems, with evaporation flasks, vapour filtering bottles and glass cold trap dry-ice condensers sized to match.

Vacuum ovens: 220V 25L and 53L, 5-sided heat, stainless steel tubing and valves.

Vacuum pumps: EasyVac 7 CFM and 9 CFM with oil mist filters, Welch 1400 DuoSeal 0.9 cfm dual-stage belt drive, ULVAC DTC-41 1.6 CFM chemical-duty diaphragm, and the WaterVac 0.7 cfm recirculating water pump.

Chillers: -20°C to 99°C 7L compact recirculating chiller at 240V, and the -30°C 10L chiller with a 20L/min centrifugal pump.

Distillation and glassware: 2L short path distillation kit, DigiM 2L PID heating mantle, T1 glass vacuum cold trap, 24/40 three-way glass T adapter, 35/20 heavy wall 250mL receiving flask, tri-clamps and stainless vacuum bellows.

Choosing between the systems

1. Match the pump to the solvent. Oil-sealed rotary vane pumps give deeper vacuum but degrade on solvent vapour. A chemical-duty diaphragm pump like the DTC-41 trades ultimate vacuum for surviving the job.
2. Size the chiller to the evaporator, not the room. Condensing capacity is what limits recovery rate. A 2L evaporator paired with an undersized chiller simply runs slowly.
3. Put a cold trap between the glassware and the pump. It is far cheaper to empty a trap than to rebuild a pump. The T1 glass trap and the dry-ice condensers do this job.
4. Check the power supply before ordering. The vacuum ovens are 220V units and several items are single-phase 240V — confirm what the installation site actually has.
5. Budget for consumables. Vacuum pump oil, gaskets, clamps and tubing are running costs, not one-off purchases.
