The EasyVac 7 and 9 CFM are oil-sealed rotary vane pumps — high displacement and deep vacuum, which suits general evacuation and vacuum ovens. The ULVAC DTC-41 is a dual-stage chemical-duty diaphragm pump: lower displacement at 1.6 CFM, but it tolerates solvent vapour that would contaminate and degrade oil in a rotary vane pump.
In practice, yes. The condenser has to pull vapour back to liquid, and tap water rarely gets cold enough to do that efficiently — especially in an Australian summer. The recirculating chillers here run to -20°C and -30°C. Undersizing the chiller does not break anything; it just makes recovery slow and increases losses.
A cold trap sits between your glassware and the vacuum pump and condenses vapour before it reaches the pump. Without one, solvent ends up in the pump oil, which degrades the vacuum and shortens pump life considerably. The T1 glass vacuum cold trap and the dry-ice condensers for the 2L and 5L evaporators cover this.
Heating elements are built into five surfaces of the chamber rather than just the shelves or the base. That gives a more even temperature across the chamber and reduces the cold spots you get when heat comes from one direction only. Both the 25L and 53L ovens use it, with stainless steel tubing and valves.
The vacuum ovens are listed as 220V and the 7L recirculating chiller as 240V. Specifications vary by unit, so check the individual product page and confirm against the supply at the installation site before ordering. For anything being hard-wired, have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit before delivery.
