Fit the prefilter
For intake setups, slip a prefilter cloth over the filter so all the mesh is covered; for exhaust, stuff the prefilter inside the filter body instead.

Connect fan or ducting
Slide your ducting or inline fan's port over the flange and secure with duct clamps — a wrap of foil tape first gives extra hold.

Position it
Hang inside the tent on the fan's intake end, or outside on the exhaust end. In humid spaces, mount the filter as high as possible.

Hang it up
Loop the straps around a support bar and lock them through the ladder locks, or clip the rope-clip carabiners straight onto the flange hooks.

Refill when odours return
Twist off the port flange, remove the stopper, compost the spent carbon, then funnel in fresh charcoal — packed firm, never past the plastic barrier.
How is this different from a standard carbon filter?
A standard duct filter is a sealed unit — once the carbon is spent, the whole thing is binned. This kit refills through a twist-off port flange with loose Australian charcoal instead, and the included refill gives it the filtration capacity of two standard filters. Refill bags cost a fraction of a new filter, and the spent carbon can be composted.
Which charcoal refill do I need?
The 8lb (about 3.6kg) bag of AC Infinity 1200+ IAV Australian charcoal gives this 100mm filter two full refills — it's the same RC412 grade that ships in the kit. One refill is already included in the box, so you're set for the first carbon change before you need a bag.
What fan should I pair with it?
Match the filter to your fan's duct size: this is the 100mm (4-inch) model, rated to 210 CFM, and it connects straight to a Cloudline PRO S4 or T4 inline fan or via 100mm ducting. The refillable line also comes in 150mm (6-inch) and 200mm (8-inch) sizes if your setup runs bigger ducting.
How long does the carbon last?
Expect one to two grow cycles between refills, depending on fan speed and how often the filter runs. Refill once odours first start slipping through. To stretch each fill further, wash the prefilter cloths, reverse the flanges now and then, and hold off running the filter until plants actually smell. A little black dust on arrival is shipping residue — it clears after first use.
