Grower Tip
- The 140mm frame moves 57 CFM at only 1200 RPM, so you get the airflow without the whine of a small fan working hard.
- Flip the fan over to swap between intake and exhaust, so one unit can either feed or vent a gear cupboard.
- Rated for 35–85% RH, which covers veg and flower tent air; keep it out of a propagation dome running wetter.
- Chain up to four fans on one USB source, setting the ones nearest the plug to high so the rest get enough current.
Features
A single 140mm fan moves 57 CFM at 1200 RPM.
Turning at just 1200 RPM keeps rated noise to 18 dBA while still moving 57 CFM.
A cord-mounted switch sets low, medium, high or off to balance airflow against noise.
Rated at 67,000 hours L10 life, and let the fan lay flat or stand upright.
Flip the fan over to turn it from an intake into an exhaust, with no rewiring.
Runs from any dedicated USB port rated 500mA or higher, drawing 1.5W at 3 to 7V DC.
A spare USB port on the unit lets up to four fans share one power source.
Eight rubber feet cut vibration noise, and unscrew for a slimmer footprint.
-
1
Position the fan
Stand it upright, lay it flat, or bolt it to a panel; any orientation works.
-
2
Point the airflow
Flip the fan over to switch it between drawing cool air in and pushing hot air out.
-
3
Fit or remove the feet
Leave the silicone feet on for hard surfaces, or unscrew them for a slimmer fit and refit the screws to hold the guard.
-
4
Screw-mount if needed
Use the 125 x 125mm hole spacing and 4mm screw holes to fix the fan to a board.
-
5
Plug in
Run the 1.8m cord to a dedicated USB port rated 500mA or higher, or to a USB wall adapter.
-
6
Set the speed
Use the inline switch for low, medium or high. When chaining fans, set those nearest the source to high.
How loud is the Multifan S4?
Rated noise is 18 dBA at full speed. The 140mm frame is the reason it stays quiet: it only turns at 1200 RPM to move 57 CFM, where a smaller fan has to spin much faster for the same airflow. The inline switch drops it to medium or low, and eight silicone feet absorb the buzz from hard surfaces.
What powers it — is a plug included?
It runs off USB. The box holds the fan and its speed controller, so you supply the power: any dedicated USB port rated 500mA or higher, or a USB wall adapter. Only the Turbo Power Adapter models, marked with a P suffix, ship with an adapter included. The fan draws 1.5W at 3 to 7V DC.
Can I run it in a grow tent?
Yes, within its ratings. The fan is rated for 35 to 85% RH and roughly -18°C to 70°C, which covers normal veg and flower tent conditions. It is built for indoor use only, and a propagation dome sitting above 85% RH is outside the rating, so mount the fan outside that space and move air across it instead.
How many fans can I chain together?
Up to four fans share one USB power source. Each unit carries a spare USB port, so you link one into the next rather than needing a power point per fan. Set the fans nearest the power source to high so the units further down the chain still get enough current to run properly.
Can I mount it vertically or reverse the airflow?
Both. The dual-ball bearings are rated for any orientation, so the fan stands upright, lays flat or bolts to a vertical panel without shortening bearing life. Flipping it over reverses it between intake and exhaust. There are four 4mm screw holes on 125 x 125mm spacing, matching standard 140mm fan hardware.
How does the S4 compare with the smaller Multifans?
The S4 is the largest single fan in the range at 140mm and 57 CFM. The S1 is 80mm and 26 CFM, and the S3 is 120mm. If you would rather spread airflow across two points than concentrate it in one, the S5 and S7 pair two fans on a single controller instead.
Description
The ultra-quiet cooling fan can be positioned to stand upright or laid flat to cool various electronics and components.
Features a multi-speed controller with power switch. Includes eight large anti-vibration rubber feet and a 6-foot power cord. The USB plug can be plugged into the USB ports found behind popular electronics such as receivers and video game consoles.
Each unit contains an additional USB port, up to four fans can be daisy chained together to share the same power source.
This fan system is CE and RoHS certified and contains premium dual-ball bearings, allowing it to be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Contains AC Infinity axial fans ACX-FD1425(B)05W3 which meet UL-507 standards for safety under Underwriters Laboratories certificate E503903.
SPEED CONTROLLER
The fan includes an in-line multi-speed controller with power switch to set the fan’s speed to optimal noise and airflow levels for various environments.
CONNECTING ADDITIONAL UNITS
For electronics and components that requires more airflow, each fan unit can daisy chain additional MULTIFAN S series fans. Up to four fans can share the same USB power source; and up to six fans can share the same thermal controller (sold separately). MULTIFAN S1, S2, S3 and S4 contains one fan, and MULTIFAN S5 and S7 contains two fans.
APPLICATIONS
This ultra-quiet cooling fan is popular in a variety of electronics and components such as receivers, DVRs, video game consoles, modems, computers, amplifiers, and other audio video equipment.
