What counts as a silenced fan?

A silenced fan is not a smaller motor. It is a duct fan whose motor and impeller sit inside an acoustically insulated housing — a lined shell that soaks up motor whine and air rush before that sound leaves the unit. Run an EC motor at part speed in that shell and extraction fades into the background, instead of a hum travelling through every wall in the house. Growers reach for this setup when the tent sits in a house or against a shared wall, and a bare extract would be the loudest thing in the room.

The silenced range we stock

Acoustic-housing silenced fans. Pro Grow Dragon Series Silenced covers 150–300mm. G.A.S Revolution V2 EC Vector sits at 150–250mm. Headwind HVC EC Silenced and Sigilventus EC Silenced both run 150–315mm. Beside them: the Can-Fan Iso-Max, Blauberg Iso-Mix Turbo Silencer and the Phresh Silenced HyperFan.

Quiet EC duct fans. The AC Infinity Cloudline PRO S and T series run 100–300mm. There is no acoustic shell. EC motors plus speed and climate controllers keep them near-silent at the speeds a tent actually uses. On the T-series, the Controller 69 Pro only winds the fan up when temperature or humidity asks for it.

Building a quiet extract

  1. Go up a size and run it slow. Give the extract some headroom. A 200mm unit loafing at level 4 moves the same air as a 150mm unit pinned wide open, and it is far quieter.
  2. Line the run with noise-reducing ducting. Bare aluminium duct is a speaking tube — it carries fan noise straight to the vent. Insulated acoustic ducting soaks that sound up.
  3. Hang the fan off the frame. Use straps rather than bolting the unit to the tent poles, so vibration cannot drum through the structure.
  4. Match the carbon filter. A choked or undersized carbon filter makes the fan work harder and louder. Same diameter, fresh carbon.
  5. Treat the duct ends. What noise is left mostly escapes at the outlet. A longer run with gentle bends beats a short, straight blast.

If noise is not your first concern, browse the full inline fan range. Pair any fan on this page with ducting and a matching carbon filter to finish the extract.

Silenced Fans FAQ's

No. The acoustic shell wraps the same class of EC fan, so airflow ratings stay comparable size for size. What you trade is bulk, not performance — the housing makes the unit longer and heavier than a bare duct fan, which is why hanging space in the tent is the thing to check. Read the m³/h figures on each listing the same way you would for any other fan.

Yes, when the grow shares a wall with a bedroom or living space. A speed controller takes the edge off, but it cannot stop a bare housing radiating motor whine and air rush — that is what the acoustic shell absorbs. An EC silenced fan held at part speed is the quietest extract you can run.

The silenced range runs from compact 100mm fans through to 315mm room-scale units, and 150mm and 200mm cover most grow tents. Pro Grow, G.A.S, Headwind and Sigilventus put acoustic housings on 150–315mm. AC Infinity Cloudline PRO covers 100–300mm in the quiet-EC style.

Ducting and how you hang the fan. Insulated noise-reducing ducting stops sound travelling down the run; flexible straps keep vibration out of the tent frame. Then set the fan to the lowest speed that still holds temperature and humidity — spare capacity is the cheapest silencer you can buy.
