Grower Tip
- Mixed more than you need? The solution keeps for one to two weeks. Give it a good stir before you feed.
- Starting cuttings? Feed them CCS first. It covers early root growth, then Foliage Focus and Rootzone carry the plant from there.
Features
A complete foliage plant nutrient and a root biostimulant that go into the same watering can at every feed.
The 1L of Foliage Focus makes up to 200L at 5mL per litre, and the 250mL of Rootzone treats 250L at 1mL per litre.
Foliage Focus supplies all 12 essential minerals, including calcium, in one liquid concentrate, with no A and B parts to balance.
Balanced for lush leaf growth on non-flowering plants, from common indoor greenery to rare tropical species.
Foliage Focus is buffered so all 12 essential minerals stay available to the plant.
Rootzone blends marine and plant extracts, fulvic acid, and a small amount of thiamine and potassium for robust root development.
Rootzone is used with your nutrient from cuttings and seedlings right through to mature plants.
Works in hydroponics, semi-hydro, soil and potting mix, with a simple dilution rate for each.
-
1
Measure the Foliage Focus
Use the bottle cap as a measure. One capful holds 20mL.
-
2
Dilute for your medium
Mix 5–7mL per litre of water for hydroponics and semi-hydro, or 3–5mL per litre for soil and potting mix.
-
3
Add Rootzone
Add Rootzone to the same mix at 1mL per litre for juvenile and mature plants, or 0.5mL per litre for cuttings and seedlings.
-
4
Feed at each watering
Use the mix at each watering for optimum results.
-
5
Build strength as plants mature
Gradually increase the Foliage Focus rate as plants grow towards maturity, but never exceed 10mL per litre.
-
6
Flush monthly
Once a month, water through with plain water to clear any build-up of mineral salts.
-
7
Store it right
Keep both bottles sealed in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate the Rootzone if you can.
How long will the kit last?
The two bottles are sized to match. At 5mL per litre the 1L of Foliage Focus makes up to 200L of feed, and at 1mL per litre the 250mL of Rootzone treats 250L. As a guide, a 9L watering can once a week uses 45mL of Foliage Focus and 9mL of Rootzone, so the kit lasts about 22 weeks. For a bigger collection, the Foliage Focus 5L and Rootzone 1L kit makes about 1,000L.
Why use Rootzone with Foliage Focus?
They do different jobs. Foliage Focus is the complete nutrient: it supplies all 12 essential minerals the plant needs to grow. Rootzone is an organic-based root biostimulant that keeps roots healthy and helps the plant take up that nutrient more efficiently. Rootzone is made to be added to a regular liquid fertiliser such as Foliage Focus, so the two go into the same mix at every watering.
Do I mix them together or use them separately?
Together. Make up Foliage Focus at its normal rate, 5–7mL per litre for hydroponics and semi-hydro or 3–5mL per litre for soil and potting mix, then add Rootzone to the same water at 1mL per litre, or 0.5mL per litre for cuttings and seedlings. Feed with the mix at each watering.
How often should I feed?
Feed at each watering for optimum results, or at least once a week during active growth in spring and summer. Never take Foliage Focus above 10mL per litre, because stronger mixes can burn roots and leaves. Ease off through winter, when most plants are dormant and need little or no feeding, and flush with plain water once a month.
Can I use the kit on flowering plants?
Foliage Focus is formulated for non-flowering plants. Its profile is built for lush, leafy growth, so it's the right choice for tropical foliage, indoor greenery and other leafy plants. Rootzone can be added to any regular liquid fertiliser. For a mixed collection that includes flowering or fruiting plants, pair Rootzone with Complete Focus, the all-rounder of the Focus range, instead.
My potting mix already has slow-release fertiliser in it. Can I still use the kit?
Yes, but halve the Foliage Focus rate so you don't overfeed. With a pre-fertilised mix you can't be sure which minerals are in it, or how much. For potted foliage plants, pure coco fibre is a perfect partner for Focus nutrients: it holds water well and has no added fertiliser, so your plants get exactly what you feed them.
Description
The Growth Technology Foliage Focus and Rootzone kit pairs a complete liquid nutrient for foliage plants with an organic-based root biostimulant. Rootzone is made to be added to a regular liquid fertiliser such as Foliage Focus, so the two go into the same mix at every watering. This kit holds 1L of Foliage Focus and 250mL of Rootzone, sized to run out at about the same time.
What's in the kit
- Foliage Focus 1L: a complete, single-part liquid nutrient for foliage plants. Makes up to 200L of working solution at 5mL per litre.
- Rootzone 250mL: an organic-based root biostimulant. Treats 250L of feed at 1mL per litre.
Foliage Focus
Developed using Growth Technology's Single Part Technology (SPT) and manufactured from the highest quality raw materials, Foliage Focus delivers a complete profile of all 12 essential minerals, balanced for foliage plants. It's perfect for both rare and common species.
- Complete in one part: all 12 essential minerals, including calcium, blended into an easily absorbed liquid concentrate.
- pH buffered, so all 12 essential minerals stay available to the plant.
- Made using only the highest grade raw materials and chelated trace elements, for effortless absorption by the plant.
- Guaranteed free of chlorides, urea and sodium.
- Easy to use, with simple instructions. One capful is 20mL.
Foliage Focus is formulated for faster growth and development, increased root development and strength, profuse vegetative growth, greater resistance to disease and increased tolerance to environmental stress.
Rootzone
Rootzone is an organic-based additive made to be used in conjunction with your nutrient throughout the entire life cycle of a plant. It's a blend of marine and plant extracts, fulvic acid, and a small quantity of thiamine and potassium, all aimed at robust root development. Optimum root health means optimal plant health and vigorous growth, so Rootzone supports the whole plant, not only the roots. It was Growth Technology's first organic-based product, built on the company's long background in mineral nutrition, and was tested in 12 in-house trials and a further 97 external trials.
How to use them together
- Mix the Foliage Focus first. Hydroponics and semi-hydro: 5–7mL per litre of water. Soil and potting mix: 3–5mL per litre of water.
- Add Rootzone to the same mix. Cuttings and seedlings: 0.5mL per litre. Juvenile and mature plants: 1mL per litre.
- Use at each watering for optimum results, and gradually increase the nutrient strength as plants advance towards maturity.
- Flush monthly with plain water to remove any build-up of mineral salts.
Store both in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate the Rootzone if possible.
